Review: TheFaceShop ChiaSeed Moisture-Holding Seed Cream

I had blogged about the ChiaSeed Press Kit 2 months ago and I started to use this gel-cream moisturizer since then. Now it is time for the review of Chia Seed Moisture-Holding Seed Cream.

The product comes with a plastic spatula which is pretty small.

I almost hit the bottom!~

A scoop of the ChiaSeed cream is just nice for both my face and neck.

Swatch
Close-up swatch of the ChiaSeed cream.

Visible tiny mica (glitters) are found in the cream. So small that it is almost unnoticeable to the eyes. But my camera managed to capture the sparkles given off from them. In the past, I don't like using products with mica in it as they cannot be absorbed into the skin thus staying on top of the skin surface until I rinse them off. The idea of having mica in skin care products is to make our skin look more radiant when the light shines onto it. Nowadays many skin care products have mica in them and I had grown used to seeing it, hence now I'm pretty alright with using them even at night.

1 scoop of the cream is actually enough to spread on my whole arm. In the 3rd image, the skin looks slightly glossy as the cream is still being absorbed into the skin. In the last image, skin appear less dry on the surface than the first image.

Face Swatch
Water wraps around the translucent white cream, which means it is very watery kind of gel-cream.
Skin looks dewy after applying the cream.

Review
I had used ChiaSeed Moisture-Holding Seed Cream on top of my serum/essence every day & night for about 4 weeks.
- refreshing & strong floral, spicy herbs scent
- very easy to spread out
- lightweight, liquidy
- watery yet has a tiny bit of silicon texture to it
- leaves a smooth silicon texture, and sometimes feel abit greasy on my fingers after application (I will feel like washing my hands)
- skin feels cooling & refreshing
- very hydrating both on the skin surface and within
- require some patting to let the cream fully absorbed into skin
- skin feels slightly plumped after cream is being fully absorbed
- dry areas feel soothing and hydrated
- feels supple, very moisturized and slightly silky
- skin looks a little bit glossy but non-greasy
- the mica in the product doesn't really make my skin looks any more radiant than it is
- after a few hours, face starts to oil up (need to blot with tissue or blotter)
- if used in normal room temperature or cold weather, face will not become oily
- though it doesn't help much in controlling oil, but it also doesn't make my skin from breaking out
- doesn't cause irritation
- doesn't clog pores
- skin feels moisturized everyday and night and doesn't feel as dry as before when wearing makeup over it
- can use as a moisturizing mask that can be applied overnight
I feel that it is a very basic moisturizer that helps to replenish high content of moisture to the skin. It is a light & thin cream (not the rich creamy kind) so it can be used on all kinds of skin, especially one that is often in contact with air-con.
I prefer to use this during the night as it may 'melt' my makeup in the day when weather is hot & humid which will trigger my skin to produce more sebum.
